Solarix has been commissioned by the Municipality of Middelburg to make the city theatre in the historic city more sustainable. With this project, the municipality wants to show that it is also possible to generate sustainable energy on an architecturally valuable building in a historic environment.

The colour options of the Solarix Line Collection have been used for the design, in which the lines provide a subtle colour reference to stage curtains. The vertically placed panels thus adorn both sides of the main entrance of the Schouwburg like wings.

During the design process, Solarix also took the existing architecture as a starting point, so that the matted coloured solar facade panels fit seamlessly into the environment. In this way, a dynamic facade is created that ensures an extra high-energy yield.
